CHAD
|
Football is the number one sport in Chad and the game is enjoyed at
all levels of society. As well as the football organised by FTF, a FIFA
member association, the game is also played in streets and schools, on
housing estates and even in companies.
In terms of international football, Chad are regular participants in the qualifying round for the African Cup of Nations, unfortunately without ever having qualified for the final tournament of the African showpiece or the FIFA World Cup. This weakness is also reflected at club level, as Chadian clubs rarely progress to the later stages of African club competitions. This can certainly be attributed to the dearth of experienced trainers, a luxury that the association simply cannot afford. Even a one-year contract with the Cameroon coach Jean-Paul Akono, Olympic champion coach in Sydney 2000, could not improve matters. (FIFA.com) ACHIEVEMENTS |
