Senegal hit man Papiss Demba Cissé lost the race for the top scorer award in the German Bundesliga after Freiburg were beaten 1:0 at home by Bayer Leverkusen on the final day of the season Saturday.
It means the 25-year-old finishes second in the race for the top scorer gong with 22 goals, while Bayern Munich's Mario Gomez won the honour after netting 28 times.
Both were neck and neck until the final three weeks when Gomez pulled away.
Cisse is expected to move to a new club this summer with England the likeliest destination.
Meanwhile Hannover 96 striker Didier Ya Konan scored his side's last goal of the season in their 3:1 win over Nurnberg. The Cote d'Ivoire international finished 8th in the Bundesliga top scorers' chart and will have a crack at Europa Cup action next season after Hannover finished 4th.
Team-mate Karim Haggui, a Tunisia international scored the first goal in the game.
Fellow Tunisian Sami Allagui netted his 10th goal of the season for Mainz who beat the relegated St. Pauli 2:1 to finish fifth, and also book a place in next season's Europa Cup.
