Former Lamontville Golden Arrows player Kagisho Dikgacoi hopes his side Crystal Palace will come back stronger next season after a disappointing finish.

Following a promising start to the campaign, recent poor form has seen the Eagles dropping down to 17th place on the Npower Championship table with 56 points.

Dougie Freedman’s side are winless in their last eight league outings, losing five matches during that period, and only managing a 2-2 draw in their latest match against Reading on Saturday.

“I think it was a good result away against a promoted Reading side, I think we did well and we deserved to get something out of that game, which at the end was a point,” said Dikgacoi through his official website.

The 27-year-old South Africa midfielder believes they could’ve had a better season following their good run in the Carling Cup, and hopes their experiences will aid them in the next campaign.

“We were hoping to finish in a respectable position. In mid-March we were just five points from play-off position and it really shows how close we were in finishing in a good mode,” he said.

“We were in the semi-finals of the Carling, we beat Man United and I think our play this season has been fantastic, just that luck was not on our side.

“We have one last game to finish and already we know what we want to achieve next season, in addition I think it’s important for everyone during our break to stay prepared for the new season.”

Palace will play their final game of the season against Cardiff City at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.
