Young Nigeria midfielder Joel Obi says he is excited about his growing influence in the first team of Inter Milan, but is under no illusions as to the difficulty of keeping his place.
The 20-year-old has become a starter for the Nerazzurri in the current campaign, but with left-footed midfielders like Ghana's Sulley Muntari and Argentina's Ricardo Alvarez circling, Obi knows he has his work cut out for him.
"I am doing to the best of my abilities. It is a great feeling and a good thing to play regularly and play in the first team of Inter Milan but I will confess to you that it is not easy playing in the Inter first team," he told Mtnfootball.com.
The 20-year-old has become a starter for the Nerazzurri in the current campaign, but with left-footed midfielders like Ghana's Sulley Muntari and Argentina's Ricardo Alvarez circling, Obi knows he has his work cut out for him.

"But I have resolved to always do my best as well as give my all to the team whenever I am called to do so even if it is just for a minute I will give my best."
Obi has also seen his international career soar since making his debut earlier this year. He now commands a regular starting place alongside Chelsea star John Mikel Obi and will no doubt play a massive role as Nigeria host Guinea in a must-win final day Nations Cup qualifying showdown next week.
The Super Eagles need to win by a lone goal or two-goal margin to make the finals of the 2012 continental showpiece. Obi says he is ready to give his best.
"All I know is that I will always give my best for the Super Eagles whenever I am fielded by the chief coach. We are ready for this match because we all desire to be at the Nations Cup."
The youngster, who said he did not feature at the recent U-20 World Cup in Colombia because he was not invited, observed that he would relish a chance to play at the London Olympics should Nigeria qualify.
"Yes, I am super ready to play for the Dream Team V of Nigeria any time I get the call-up. I am waiting for an invitation from the coach to join the team".
