Mohamed El-Neny
FC Basel have decided to take up the option of signing Egyptian midfielder Mohamed El-Neny on a permanent basis, the Swiss club said on Friday.

The 21-year-old joined Basel from Arab Contractors on a six-month loan deal last January with a view to a permanent move at the end of the season.

"FC Basel have taken up the option of signing Mohamed El-Neny on a four-year deal until 30 June 2017," Basel said in a statement on their website.

El-Neny is the second Egyptian player to sign for Basel, joining compatriot Mohamed Salah.

During his short loan stint, El-Neny established himself as a key player in the heart of Basel’s midfield, thanks to his precise and efficient passes.

Ghana attacker Samuel Afum has signed a three-and-half year contract for Swiss side Young Boys Bern for an undisclosed fee. 

The 22-year-old passed medicals on Thursday morning after arriving in Bern and inked the deal which will keep him at the Stade De Suisse Wankdorf Bern till 2016 on Friday evening.

Afum has been handed jersey number 7 and he hopes a spell with the Swiss giants can help kickstart an illustrious career in Europe.

After departure of Zambia forward Emmanuel Mayuka to EPL side Southampton and the sale of Argentine forward Raul Bobadilla to FC Basel, Young Boys boss Martin Rueda believes the Ghana youngster has the qualities to propel the Yellow and Blacks in the domestic league.

Mohammed El Nenny
The Egyptian side Arab Contractors have sent their player Mohammed El Nenny for trials at FC Basel of Switzerland supersport has been informed.

The club board member Sherif Habib confirmed this to supersport.com and said that the player will travel next January.

”They sent us a proposition and we accepted to send him for trials. He will travel on January 13th and he will stay there for a week , then he will come back again to Cairo and hopefully seal the deal” Sherif said to supersport.com.

”It will be good for El Nenny if he plays there as well as the club and the Egyptian National team” he added.

Kofi Ntiamoah Nimeley has declared to play for Ghana after helping Switzerland's U-17 team to World Cup glory in 2009.

The 19-year-old was born in Ghana but left for Europe at the age of six.

The right-back then playing in midfield was integral for the Swiss junior team that historically clinched the World Cup in the 2009 U-17 championships hosted in Nigeria.

Now playing for FC Basel, Nimeley has decided to play for his country of birth despite having a fine opportunity to continue playing for the Swiss national teams.

Reynold Kampamba has been excused from Zambia training camp to attend trials at Swiss side Young Boys.

The teenage Nkana striker who finished 2012 season as top scorer was due to fly out on Monday evening.

Kampamba's prospective move to Young Boys comes just four months after fellow Zambia striker Emmanuel Mayuka left the Swiss club to join English Premiership club Southampton.

"Young Boys are interested in him," Nkana vice chairperson Ken Mwansa told MTNFootball.com.

Ghana whiz kid Christian Atsu is a hot favourite to win the 2012 Golden Boy Award given to the best European footballer under the age of 21 .

The FC Porto player has been named in a 38-man shortlist for this year gong which will be voted for by 30 journalists from all over the continent.

The 20-year-old was named Rio Ave's Player of the Year in May- a club he spent last season on loan.

He scored on his international debut in June this year during a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Atsu dazzled again for Ghana in September and scored one of the goals in the 2-0 win over Malawi in the first leg 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at home.

In-form Cote d'Ivoire winger Gervinho scored for English side Arsenal to seal a 2:1 comeback win at Montpellier in their opening group game of the 2012-13 UEFA Champions League.

The French champions had taken the lead on nine minutes through young Morocco midfielder Younes Belhanda, who converted from the spot after he had been fouled.

In other games, Cote d'Ivoire midfielder Yaya Toure put in a huge shift for English champions Manchester City, but they eventually lost 3:2 in a dramatic game at Real Madrid.

The former Barcelona star set up the first goal for Edin Dzeko, but missed a chance to double the lead in the 79th minute when he hit the side-netting from close range.

Southampton have bolstered their strikeforce with the signing of Zambia forward Emmanuel Mayuka from Young Boys Berne.

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal at St Mary's after passing a medical with the newly-promoted Barclays Premier League side on Tuesday.

Mayuka has already been granted a work permit and Saints are now awaiting entry clearance for the deal to be fully ratified, which is expected to happen before the end of this week.

Mayuka joined Maccabi Tel Aviv from his first club Kabwe Warriors four years ago before signing for Young Boys in 2010.

Former Ghanaian International and two-time Caf Champions League winner, Joetex Frimpong, is set to return to business after signing a six-month contract with top Swiss side, FC Zurich, on Wednesday.

Frimpong has been away from football for two years since the expiration of his contract at BSC Young Boys and got a lifeline when his former manager at FC Lucerne, Rolf Fringer, arrived at FC Zurich.

Fringer kept the Enyimba legend on the field for 90 minutes in Tuesday’s pre-season friendly against lower division side, FC Wil and the forward scored on match day.

Zambia striker Fwayo Tembo has joined Romanian club FC Astra Ploiesti.

Fwayo moves to Romania on a long term deal following the termination of his contract by Swiss champions FC Basel.

Romanian newspaper Gazeta de Prahova says the 24-year old was due to join his new team mates at their preseason training camp in Austria this week.

Astra finished 12th in the 18-team Romania Ligue 1.

Basel terminated Fwayo's contract in May after two modest seasons with the Swiss club I which he had scored just two goals in 30 games.
