Ghana will not play a friendly match against Uganda before next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Sudan and Lesotho, the Ghana FA has said.

Uganda FA claimed this week that they are on the verge of sealing a friendly against the Black Stars early next month.

The Cranes say they are courting Ghana for an international friendly before their next 2014 World Cup qualifier against Liberia on June 8 in Kampala.

This comes after Ghana withdrew from a friendly against Kenya scheduled for Nairobi on 1 June.

Ghana's home-based national team will play in a three-nation tournament in Liberia this month.

The local Black Stars will compete with the host nation and West African neighbours Guinea from 24-26 May.

The technical team has called up 25 players from the Ghana Premier League to begin camping on Monday, 13 May in Obuasi.

Goalkeepers Fatau Dauda (AshantiGold) and Daniel Agyei (Liberty Professionals) who are members of the senior national team were left out.

But the league's leading scorer Mahatma Otoo, who earned a debut Ghana call-up in March for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Sudan at home, was included in the squad.

Lesotho will host South Africa in an international friendly in Maseru on June 1.

The COSAFA rivals will use the match as a warm-up for their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers later in the month.

“This is a hugely important match for us and we must thank the Lesotho FA for agreeing to the fixture as we struggled to get a warm-up ahead of the two important qualifiers," Bafana coach Gordon Igesund said.

"The last time we played a match was in March when we faced the CAR in Cape Town, so this clash against Lesotho will help a great deal with our preparations.

With just his second call-up to the national team but his first appearance, striker Bonwell Mwape proved his worth when he scored a brace in an international friendly against Zimbabwe to commemorate the 20th Gabon air crash anniversary at Nkoloma Stadium yesterday.

Mwape and his Nchanga Rangers’ teammate Alex Ng’onga were in a class of their own in this lopsided match that made Zimbabwe chase their own shadows.

Zambia dominated from the first whistle with their efforts paying off 31 minutes into the match when Mwape bundled in a loose ball after taking advantage of Zimbabwe’s defensive lapse.

Midfielder Roderick Kabwe floated the ball from a corner and Kondwani Mtonga attempted to head in but was blocked, only to find Mwape well-positioned.

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed the Black Stars will play Kenya's Harambee Stars in June as a preparatory match for two 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the same month.

The friendly will be played in Nairobi-where the Black Stars will be camping-on 1 June.

"We have reached an agreement to play Kenya in a friendly next month as part of our preparations for our World Cup qualifiers in June," GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

The Black Stars will play Sudan on 8 June in Khartoum and fly back to Nairobi to continue for the next qualifier.

Herve Renard has dropped his home-based stars for the April 28 friendly against Zimbabwe in Lusaka.

Nkana striker Reynold Kampamba has been dropped to avoid a club-versus-country row with the league leaders who are also in action on Sunday away to bottom placed Lime Hotspurs.

Also left out is the Power Dynamos duo of midfielder Mukuka Mulenga and Zambia number two goalkeeper Joshua Titima.

Zesco United defender Nyambe Mulenga has also been left out ending hopes of making his first return to the team since Zambia's 1-0 home win over Ghana in June 9, 2012 in a 2014 World Cup qualifier.

Proceeds from Sunday’s Zambia versus Zimbabwe friendly will go to families of the 1993 Gabon air crash national team victims.

On April 28, Zambia will mark the 20th anniversary when 30 players, officials and crew died off the coast of Gabon en route to a 1994 World Cup qualifier against Senegal.

To mark the tragedy, Zambia has invited Zimbabwe for a benefit friendly at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka to be played on the same date.

Football Association of Zambia president Kalusha Bwalya said Zimbabwe are expected to arrive in Lusaka on Friday.

Egypt
Egypt took their recent frustrations out on hapless Swaziland by thrashing the modest African outfit 10-0 in their last warm-up game before Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.

The Pharaohs have finally snapped a four-match losing streak that saw them drop to 75 in the FIFA monthly raking for their worst-ever position, having lost 3-0 to Ghana, 4-2 to Ivory Coast, 2-1 to Chile and 3-1 to Qatar since January.

Friday's win is their third-biggest victory ever. Egypt thumped Laos 15-0 in a friendly game in 1963, crushed South Korea 10-0 in the 1964 Olympic Games and routed Yemen 14-0 in Pan Arab Games one year later.
