Zimbabwe might have to forego their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign because their football association is bankrupt and cannot pay the expenses for the March trip to Egypt.

The warning comes from Zifa vice president Ndumiso Gumede on the back of instructions to Zimbabwe from Fifa to clear their debts, which now total US$4-million.

“Fifa have said to us don’t get yourselves involved in games unless you have a full government guarantee or sponsorship that covers accommodation, match expenses and all incidentals.

“That means even if someone says let’s play a match for US$100 000 appearance fee and if that US$100 000 is not enough to cover for everything then we may have to forego that opportunity,’’ Gumede told reporters in an end of the year review of footballing matters in Zimbabwe.

Victor Moses
Chelsea winger Victor Moses has said that he does not have any regrets after chosing to play for Nigeria over England.

The attacker, who joined the west London side from Wigan in the summer, believes that he made the right choice to play for the country of his birth despite representing England at youth level.

Moses has become an integral part of the Super Eagles side currently preparing for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, and he revealed that he has enjoyed every moment of his stay with the Nigerian team.

"Yes the opportunity beckoned me to play for England, but I chose Nigeria because it has always been my ambition to play for the Super Eagles," Moses told Goal.com.

Asamoah Gyan
In-form striker Asamoah Gyan has struggled to explain his unprecedented scoring form that has seen him score 21 goals in the first half of the U.A.E Pro League season.

The Ghana skipper has netted at least once in every of his 13 games this term, continuing a form that stretches back to May and three games of the last season.

Incredibly, at just halfway point, the 27-year-old is just one goal shy of his 22-goal Golden Boot tally in the last campaign.

"As I always say I don't predict, I make sure I do my job in every game," Gyan told Ghanasoccernet.com.

The 20-year-old Cote d'Ivoire-born Crystal Palace striker is being tracked by both Arsenal and Manchester United.

"I've played more than 100 first-team games and this year is crucial to develop my football career. I want to establish myself in the Premier League and in international football.

"I've played a lot in the Championship so having that new challenge in the Premier League, where everyone wants to be, would be great.

Sifiso Myeni
Orlando Pirates midfielder Sifiso Myeni says Gordon Igesund may have tried to call him yesterday to let him know he was not in the final Africa Cup of Nations squad.

The in-form Myeni was a surprise ommission from Igesund’s 23-man squad, along with Andile Jali, Teko Modise and Daine Klate.

Myeni says being dropped has only motivated his to work on his club football even more.

“There are no hard feelings; this is part of football,” he tells KickOff.com.

“The coach selected the best 23 players to represent the country and the only thing that I have to do now is to go back and work hard at my club Orlando Pirates.

Demba Ba
Scoring twice against Arsenal in London should be cause for celebration, but Senegalese Demba Ba trooped off the field dejected after a late Newcastle collapse led to a 7-3 weekend hiding.

Ba, who will be a notable absentee from the Africa Cup of Nations next month after his country failed to qualify, has notched 13 English Premier League goals this season, one less than chart-topper Robin van Persie of Manchester United.

Senegal striker Demba Ba found the net twice to take his tally for the season to 13 Premier League goals but finished on the losing side as Newcastle crashed 7-3 at Arsenal. Ba scored Newcastle's first equaliser just before halftime with a deflected free-kick and made it 3-3 with a 69th-minute tap-in before the hosts ran away with the game.

Peter Osaze Odemwingie
Osaze Odemwingie has said he regrets his sensational Twitter comments, which were made because coach Stephen Keshi was not fair to him.

West Bromwich Albion striker Odemwingie had in the wake of the release of the Nigeria squad list for the 2013 AFCON taken to his Twitter account and made some disparaging comments against Keshi as well as the entire team.

He was also reported to have called the chairman of the NFF technical Committee, Chris Green, names over his exclusion from the AFCON squad.

However, the England-based forward said his mistakes were made in a fit of anger after he had made it known to his coach and colleagues that he was set to travel for the Nations Cup in South Africa.
