Two teams in contrasting form will lock horns at the Estadio Corregidora on Thursday, with a berth in the FIFA U-17 World Cup Mexico 2011 quarter-finals on offer for the victors. That will surely focus minds in both camps, but while France will head into the tussle low on confidence, their opponents Côte d'Ivoire have built up good momentum.

Kick-Off
Estadio Corregidora, Queretaro, Thursday 30 June, 18.00 (local time, GMT - 5:00)

The stakes
The competition could hardly have got off to a better start for France, but since dispatching Argentina 3-0 their performance levels have dropped.

Sherif Abdel-Fadil of Al Alhy
Al Ahly look set to retain their Egyptian Premier League title after scoring a late equaliser to claim a 2-2 draw against bitter rivals Zamalek on Wednesday night in a match that was almost called-off by the referee as tensions threatened to boil over.

The result means Ahly maintain their five-point advantage over Zamalek with just three games of the season remaining and it is hard to see how they will give up their seventh-straight title now.

It might have been different though has Zamalek held on for the win, but they could not hold onto the lead in what was a tense match, which at times threatened to boil over into another embarrassing episode for Egyptian football.

Koffi N'Dri Romaric
Sevilla midfielder Romaric looks set for a move to Newcastle United after being excluded from the Spanish club's pre-season tour of Costa Rica.

The Andalucians have lined up two friendlies in the north American country next month, but the 28-year-old African is unlikely to feature in either, according to a Talksport.co.uk.

It has been reported that manager Marcelino Garcia Toral has no space for attacking midfielder in his other pre-season plans which opens the door for a cut-price deal for the Magpies.

The Cote d'Ivoire international was supposed to join Turkish side Trabzonspor earlier this summer, but the deal fell through.

M. Moreira battles with Ngakosso of Congo
The Uruguayans came back from a goal down to beat African outfit Congo 2-1 in the round of 16 at the Estadio Morelos in Morelia on Wednesday. The South American side will now move on to the quarter-final stages of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Mexico 2011, where they will take on Asian first-timers Uzbekistan, who routed Australia earlier in the day.

Uruguay began the game pushing four players up into the Congo half in the hopes of keeping the Africans from creating and building chances with the ball. The plan worked for a time, and the Congolese patiently waited in hopes of hitting out on the counter-attack. They managed the first chance of any note after five minutes, when Bel Epako fired in a shot from distance that was well handled by Jonathan Cubero.

U-23 : Senegal vs. Angola
The Guinea Bissau Football Federation have filed an appeal against Caf’s ruling that stripped the country’s team of its qualification for the next round of the All Africa Games qualifiers in favour of Senegal, following a row concerning an over-aged player.

“We have been informed that Guinea Bissau has lodged an appeal to challenge Caf’s decision, but we are yet to receive further instructions concerning our next match,” Senegal FA secretary general told Senegal Press Agency APS on Wednesday.

Guinea Bissau had earned their qualification for the second round of the Games after beating Senegal in Bissau 2-1 and holding them to a 2-2 draw in Dakar. But following a complaint over an over-aged player fielded by the Central Africans, Caf decided to disqualify the team and hand Senegal a ticket to the next round.
